Sane probably worried about season start after knee injury

Leroy Sane could miss his first games of the season due to his knee injury suffered in Community Shield against FC Liverpool (6-5 N.E.). The Athletic portal reports this on Wednesday, citing its own information.

However, an exact diagnosis of the severity of the injury is still pending. As the Bild newspaper reports, this is due to the free fluid that is still in Sane’s right knee joint and is intended to prevent a diagnosis.

According to The Athletic, FC Bayern has decided to pursue a transfer from Sane despite the uncertainty. For weeks now, the German record champion has been associated with a commitment by the 23-year-old, and the first reports of an agreement in the transfer poker game also made the rounds last week. For example, The Athletic reported on Monday that Sane had already informed their fellow players in Manchester about his departure.

But as Sport 1 wrote on Wednesday, a serious knee injury to Sane, combined with a break of months, would “massively endanger” a move to the FCB because he would not be a player who would “immediately help”, as recently demanded by Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski.

Sane had been ordered into the starting eleven last Sunday by City coach Pep Guardiola against Liverpool, despite rumours that he had returned to the Bundesliga, and had been injured in the early stages of the game by an unfortunate knee step in a running duel with Reds defender Trent-Alexander Arnold.

The attacking wingman had to be replaced, but took part in the celebrations after Manchester won the penalty shoot-out. “The first impression wasn’t really good. I don’t think anything bad, though, since I haven’t talked to the doctor yet. I’ll wait, but I think he’s okay,” Guardiola said at the press conference after the match about the severity of Sane’s injury.
