Real Madrid’s interest in Liverpool wing player Sadio Mane has been an integral part of Spanish football coverage for months. Now the rumours about the former Red Bull Salzburg soccer table are picking up speed again.
According to the serious Spanish newspaper El Confidencial, which is said to have good contacts to Real Madrid, Mane is a “luxury transfer destination” of the royals.
In Madrid, however, they are well aware that a transfer of the Senegalese would be difficult to achieve – after all, Mane’s contract in Liverpool runs until summer 2023. Real Madrid would have to pay 150 million euros for the 27-year-old. More realistic might be a commitment from Chelsea star Eden Hazard – the Belgian would go into his last contract year at the Blues this summer.
Mane, who moved from Southampton to Liverpool FC in the summer of 2016 for 40 million euros, scored 17 goals in 31 matches in the current Premier League season, putting him third on the scoring list along with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Harry Kane. Only Mohamed Salah (18) and Sergio Agüero (19) met more often.
Sadio Mane kicked between summer 2012 and summer 2014 at Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 45 goals in 87 games and prepared 32 more goals.
