Premier League knocks: The three options for Hinteregger’s future

Published on

Martin Hinteregger has not yet clarified his future beyond the summer. The current FC Augsburg player was awarded to Eintracht Frankfurt and had already flirted several times with staying with the team of coach Adi Hütter. But now Crystal Palace, a club from the Premier League, should show interest.

“For me there is only Frankfurt,” said Hinteregger before the two European Championship qualifying matches with the Austrian national team against Slovenia and Northern Macedonia. He is said to have already looked at several apartments in Frankfurt and expects to remain there, even though Eintracht has not yet been able to reach an agreement with Augsburg on a transfer fee.

A transfer fee of 15 million euros is reported, while Frankfurt wants to reduce the sum to 10 million euros.

While the sale of Luka Jovic to Real Madrid should create additional equity, a Premier League club could now pre-empt this. According to Sportbild, Crystal Palace is motivated to engage Hinteregger as a reinforcement for central defense.

In the past season, Hinteregger played 41 competitive games in which he scored four goals. His contract in Augsburg runs until summer 2021.
