Özil flies out of Arsenal squad for the Premier League

Former national player Mesut Özil is probably definitely on the verge of retirement at FC Arsenal. The 2014 World Cup champion was not nominated for the league squad by the Gunners, according to the Premier League announcement lists.

The 32-year-old didn’t make it into the 25-man squad. Until Tuesday afternoon, the clubs had to report their squads to the association. According to the rules, the clubs are allowed to register a maximum of 17 players who are not from England and are over 21 years old. Arsenal coach Mikel Arteta has 19 players to choose from. In

addition to Özil, the former Dortmund defender Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also affected. The two had not been nominated for the Europe League squad a few weeks ago.

Özil has not played for the Gunners for months and has rarely been in the squad. The relationship between Arsenal and him is considered tense. The Londoners would like to give up their top earner. However, Özil wants to fulfil its contract by the summer of 2021 and has ruled out an early change.
