Mane: “Would exchange CL titles”

Liverpool FC’s Sadio Mane is currently in Egypt with Senegal at the African Cup, fighting for the first title in his country’s history. For his success with Senegal, he would even give up winning the Champions League with the Reds.

In an interview with France Football, Mane said, “I would trade the Champions League with Liverpool for the Africa Cup victory with Senegal.” For the 27-year-old, it would make a dream come true. “We’d have an extraordinary return home. It’s my big dream,” says Mane.

However, the left-winger believes that winning the African continental championship can be done without bartering. “It’s in our hands,” Mane explained, adding, “It’s clear we’re one of the favorites.”

But Mane also knows that his team has to make an effort to reach the big goal. “We cannot deny it. It’s not enough to just get good results, we have to be at our best level in every game.”

After the Champions League triumph with FC Liverpool, Mane is one of the biggest stars in the African Cup. With Schalke defender Salif Sane, Napolis Kalidou Koulibaly and Inters Keita Balde he has several top-class teammates with whom the first triumph with Senegal could be possible.
