ManCity breaks its own goal record

Published on

Manchester City has set a new goal record. The two goals in the derby against Manchester United (2-0) on Wednesday evening meant goals 156 and 157 across the competition this season.

Never before has a team from the island scored more often in competitive matches. The previous record dates from the 2013/14 season, for which the citizens were already responsible.

With a win over their city rivals in the second leg, coach Pep Guardiola’s team passed the title rivals FC Liverpool to take the top spot just before the end of the season.

The advantage over the Reds is three games before the end but only one point.
