Premier League: Manchester City pulls out clause for Rodrigo

The transfer of the Spanish national player Rodrigo from Atletico Madrid to the English champion Manchester City is imminent. As Atletico announced on Wednesday, the citizens have paid the contractually stipulated exit clause in the headquarters of the Spanish LaLiga.

The sum is to be 70 million euros. Atletico also confirmed that the contract, originally dated 2023, was subsequently terminated by Rodrigos.

The German record champion Bayern Munich had also been interested in the midfielder. Last week, however, it was already leaked that Rodrigo had decided to move to the island. The 23-year-old was one of Atletico’s top performers last season. He played 47 games and scored three goals.

In addition, Atletico Madrid confirmed the commitment of Hector Herrera. The midfielder comes free of charge from FC Porto and, according to the club, will sign his contract for the next three seasons on Thursday.
