Manchester City causes fan outrage

Manchester City are currently battling for the championship in England and are at the top of the league before the final matchday in the Premier League. Off the pitch, however, a fact in the match against Leicester City (1-0) on Monday evening caused displeasure among the supporters.

Digital fan banners were on display in the Etihad stadium – a fact that made the fans and the Internet community rage. “Digital banners. Digital. Damn it. Banner. Can hardly be more embarrassing than this shit,” wrote a Twitter user.

Instead of normal fabric banners, digital banners ‘hung’ in the stadium for the first time. An idea that is not entirely new, however, as the Manchester club announced such a project back in 2014.

Already at that time, this project encountered a great headwind in the course of the reconstruction of the stadium, which is why the actual implementation had to wait a long time. And also after the match against Leicester the reaction of the fans is devastating.
