Premier League: Lukaku talks about transition to Serie A

Romelu Lukaku spoke openly about his ambitions to play in Serie A sooner or later. The Belgian international thus stirred up rumours that he could leave Manchester United in the summer after only two years.

“It would be a dream to play in Serie A,” Lukaku said at Sky Italia: “I really hope that sooner or later it will be so, even though I’m totally focused on Manchester United at the moment.”

His new advisor Federico Pastorello had already said the same thing to Sky Sports UK at the beginning of April, but noted that one had to see “what happens in the future and at the end of the season”.

Although Lukaku still has a three-year contract with the Red Devils, he is also someone “who loves to get to know different cultures, different football styles,” says Pastorello. Lukaku’s goal in his career is to become “a very good player in all top leagues”. Therefore the future of his client is “really very open”.

The 25-year-old striker only joined United from Everton FC in the summer of 2017 for around 85 million euros and has since scored 42 goals for the Red Devils in 95 competitive games.

After Lukaku was initially only used as a joker under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the Belgian international recently played his way back into the starting line-up and currently has twelve goals in the Premier League.

Rumours of a difficult relationship with the coach who took over from Jose Mourinho in December last year denied consultant Pastorello.
