Lampard likely to succeed Sarri to Chelsea

Chelsea FC are looking for a successor to coach Maurizio Sarri. According to information from Goal and SOCCERSCORE, Frank Lampard is the top candidate for the post.

Sarri, whose contract at Stamford Bridge is actually valid until 2021, is likely to return to his home country Italy. Goal and SOCCERSCORE have learned that Juventus Turin and the coach have already agreed on a commitment.

He himself recently took a stand in an interview with Vanity Fair and revealed: “The calls from home are strong.” With regard to his one-year abstinence from Italy, he stated: “One feels that something is missing. This has been a difficult year. I feel a burden lying on me because I rarely see my friends and parents.”

Lampard, the potential Sarri legacy, currently still has a valid working paper at second division Derby County. During his time as a professional, the former international played 640 times for Chelsea.

With Derby County, Lampard narrowly missed out on promotion to the Premier League last season. In the Championship Playoff Final, Aston Villa lost 2-1.
