Lampard: “Hudson-Odoi will play a central role”

Frank Lampard, the new team manager for Chelsea FC, has put a stop to the departure of the under striker talent Callum Hudson-Odoi (18), who is being courted by Bayern Munich.

“I know that the club wants it to stay, and from my perspective it will play a central role for us on the pitch. I’ll talk to him about that and I hope he stays,” Lampard said on the Europa League winner’s website.

Club legend Lampard (41), who was presented on Friday as the successor to Italian Maurizio Sarri, said: “With his talent he can play a major role in this team and for England. I want to work with him, I want to bring him forward and improve as a player.”

The young English national player is currently repairing a Achilles tendon rupture he suffered in April. Hudson-Odoi has played in ten league games (one template) in the past season and has also played nine Europa League appearances (four goals, two templates) and made his debut for the Three Lions in March.

Hudson-Odoi is one of FC Bayern’s favourite players. In the winter, sports director Hasan Salihamidzic had very offensively expressed interest in him and asked the player to release him. Hudson-Odois contract expires in summer 2020.

“I’m going to give Callum a lot of attention because of his contractual position,” Lampard said. “He can be an incredible player, but he needs to be improved. I’d like to work with him, but he’ll have to stay in the club longer.”
