Premier League: Klopp rejects Bale-Transfer

Team manager Jürgen Klopp of FC Liverpool has rejected speculations about a transfer from Real Madrid’s Gareth Bale to the Reds. Former Liverpool player Paul Ince had previously brought the Welsh attacker into the LFC game.

In an interview with BBC Radio 5, the Englishman said, “I think he should go to Liverpool if they can afford him.” According to Ince, Bale would fit well into the team of the Champions League winner: “Bale can play right, left or central. If I had to pick a team for him, that would be Liverpool.”

Klopp reacted to the idea of the 51-year-old with incomprehension. “These fantastic footballers have strange ideas,” the coach told Sky, adding, “I respect them all very much, but they probably only say these things because someone asked them.”

Klopp added: “Bale is a Real Madrid player and when he leaves it will be extremely expensive because the salary is also very high”. For the former Dortmund native, the 30-year-old does not fit into his philosophy, which is based primarily on teamwork.

“He’s a great player, I like him very much, but it’s not about him. You have to form a team,” Klopp said. According to the 52-year-old, there should be no actor above the team: “A team is not a collection of individual players, they have to work together”.

Bale moved from Tottenham to the Royals in 2013 for 101 million euros and is currently on the strike list there. Lastly, coach Zinedine Zidane even explained that he hoped to be able to sell the left foot as quickly as possible. In particular, Bale’s high salary demands are an obstacle.
