Liverpool FC will not bid for Napoli attacker Lorenzo Insigne. “We won’t even try,” said Reds coach Jürgen Klopp. The winger of the SSC Naples has been associated for some time with a change to the Premier League.
“I am now 28 years old and it may happen that I get an offer that I cannot refuse,” the Italian told the Corriere dello Sport three weeks ago. Thus the Italian drew attention to himself and heated up the rumour kitchen properly. Jürgen Klopp doesn’t want to know anything about a transfer: “He’s a very good player, but he signed a long-term contract with Naples. We will not oblige him.” Insignia’s contract with Napoli runs until 2022.
In contrast to recent years, Liverpool does not want to pay the same amount in summer as in the past. “Will it be our most expensive transfer phase? No”, Klopp confessed and gave no further information: “Our plans are not public,” he said. But the Reds will not remain inactive either: “Our eyes are always open. We are always on the lookout,” says Klopp.
The former Dortmund master coach is apparently basically satisfied with the current squad: “We have a pretty balanced team,” he said. Klopp promised to always want to improve his team: “We will try it in training. I think that’s the best way.”
In addition to the Reds, Chelsea FC was also treated as a new club Insignes. With the SSC Naples, the Italian international is currently in second place in Serie A, but has already been eliminated from the Europa League. In the second leg of the quarter-final against FC Arsenal, Insigne was replaced with a whistle, and his father Carmine then scolded coach Carlo Ancelotti.
