Insider knowledge: Ex-Liverpool-Profi locked

Former international Daniel Sturridge has been suspended for six weeks by the FA Rules Committee for breach of the betting regulations.

In addition, the former Liverpool FC professional will be fined the equivalent of 83,500 euros.

According to an FA statement, Sturridge had given his brother an insider tip in January 2018 regarding his possible transfer from Liverpool to Sevilla FC in order to make profits on the betting market. Sturridge finally went on loan to West Bromwich Albion, now he’s clubless.

The last four weeks of the suspension have been suspended so Sturridge could continue his career with a new club in August. The FA finds the ruling too lenient and has announced that it will take action against it.
