Premier League: Company leaves ManCity after winning title

Captain Vincent Kompany leaves the English champion Manchester City after the historic triple win.

The Belgian defender, who switched from Hamburger SV to Citizens in 2008, announced his farewell in an emotional open letter on Facebook the day after his 6-0 victory over FC Watford in the FA Cup final.

“I imagined this day countless times, and now it feels unreal,” wrote Kompany: “ManCity gave me everything. And I tried to give as much back as I could.” The 33-year-old announced that he would be writing another open letter about his plans for the future.

Despite numerous injuries, Kompany played a major role in the great successes of the citizens in the past decade. His dream goal of a 1-0 win over Leicester City on the penultimate matchday of the Premier League paved the way for Skyblues to win the thrilling Liverpool championship title.

Kompany won four championships with Manchester in total, in his last season he was the first team to win the triple of championship, FA Cup and league cup with the Citizens. Only the winning of the Champions League was denied ManCity and Kompany.
