Premier League: Bye bye, Peter: Crouch ends career

Former English international Peter Crouch has announced the end of his career. “After careful consideration this summer, I decided to retire from football. Our wonderful game gave me everything,” wrote the 38-year-old on Twitter.

The centre forward scored a total of 108 goals in 468 Premier League appearances for seven clubs and took part with England in the 2006 World Cup finals in Germany and 2010 in South Africa.

“If, at the age of 17, you had told me I was going to play in World Championships, reach a Champions League final, win the FA Cup and score 100 goals, I would have declared you crazy,” wrote Crouch.

Crouch won the FA Cup with FC Liverpool in 2006 and played with the Reds in the 2007 Champions League final against AC Milan (1-2). The 2.01 m tall attacker achieved cult status through his “robot” goal jubilation.
