National player Serge Gnabry has been named player of the season by the German league champion FC Bayern Munich. His former Arsenal team-mate Hector Bellerin took this as an opportunity to anger West Bromwich Albion. Gnabry once had a difficult time at today’s championship club, where he was denied, among other things, the playing class for the Premier League.
Bellerin answered on Twitter to the Gnabry winner post of FC Bayern: “But not good enough for West Brom, right? Congratulations my brother, I always knew you were the best.”
Bellerin and Gnabry once played together at Arsenal. There the attacker made his first steps in professional football before he was loaned the first half series of the 2015/16 season to West Bromwich Albion.
Gnabry’s involvement there was unsuccessful, he only made three appearances, coach Tony Pulis publicly denied him first division suitability and then sent him to the second team.
Gnabry encouraged this in his decision to leave England. In the summer of 2016 he moved to Werder Bremen, where he developed positively.
This was followed by the transfer to Bayern Munich, a season on loan in Hoffenheim and now the breakthrough at the FCB – including the award for Player of the Year.
