After the 1:2 bankruptcy in the Champions League qualification against the LASK on Wednesday, FC Basel has to accept the next setback. A striker Albian Ajeti leaves Marcel Koller’s squad and joins Premier League club West Ham United.
The Londoners are transferring around nine million euros for the Swiss national player. At West Ham, he’s supposed to back up star striker Sebastien Haller.
This season, the 22-year-old has scored two goals in three games and has also scored two more. In the last two seasons Ajeti scored a strong 38 times.
“When I felt West Ham’s interest, I didn’t have to think twice. West Ham is a big traditional club in England, I am really excited”, Ajeti is pleased.
“We are extremely happy to have won Ajeti over. He is a young player who has a great future with us. Our scouts have often observed him and the analyses are excellent. He’s aggressive, fast and comfortable in the penalty area,” says sports director Mrio Husillos.
