The English first league football club Tottenham Hotspur has received a 175 million pounds (194.5 million euros) loan from the Bank of England, the English central bank. The club lacks income from Premier League matchdays, conferences and other live events such as concerts. The Spurs’ new stadium was also to host matches of the American football league NFL, which were also cancelled due to the pandemic. The Premier League clubs are also threatened with millions in repayments to the TV rights holders because the matches could not take place as planned and are now being held late with the exclusion of spectators.
