Between 16 and 30 June, the U21 European Championship will take place in Italy and San Marino. Germany is also qualified for the European Championship finals and will enter the tournament as reigning European champion. SOCCERSCORE will tell you whether the U21-EM will be broadcast on Free TV and where the live games can be seen.
Germany has already twice won the European Junior Tournament, which has been played in this form since 1967.
All games of the U21-EM will be shown on German Free-TV. The live broadcasting rights are shared by a total of three stations: In addition to ARD and ZDF, Sport 1 provides you with live pictures from the European Championship tournament.
The preliminary round matches without German participation will all be broadcast by Sport 1. For the public broadcasters, the main focus will be on broadcasting the German EM matches, while the remaining live matches will be available as livestreams.
All games without participation of the DFB team can be called up via livestream either on sportschau.de or on zdfsport.de.
Public television, i.e. ARD and ZDF, takes care of the entire live coverage of the German team.
The first two preliminary round duels of the DFB team will be broadcast live and exclusively on ARD. ZDF will then enter the live coverage of the last German match against Austria in the preliminary round.
If Stefan Kuntz’s team reaches the semi-finals, ZDF will be there again. A final entry of the German team would again result in an ARD broadcast.
Should the DFB team not make it to the semi-finals, the two decisive live matches will still be broadcast on free TV. Both games could then be seen in Sport 1 as well as in the livestream.
The final game will be broadcast on sportschau.de in one way or another, even without German participation, in the livestream.
A total of twelve U21 national teams have qualified for the 2019 European Championship finals. These are divided into three groups with four teams each. Germany was drawn in Group B and will duel with Austria, Denmark and Serbia in the preliminary round.
The upcoming U21 European Championship will be held in two countries, Italy and San Marino.
The tournament mode is relatively simple. Within a group, the group winner is played in Round Robin format (each against each other). The three group winners move into the semi-finals, while the fourth place in the semi-finals belongs to the best runners-up.
