Adi Hütter celebrates Kantersieg with Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt can already rejoice after the first leg in the 3rd qualifying round for the European Football League. The Vorarlberg-based Adi Hütter team clearly beat FC Vaduz 5-0 (3-0) on Thursday. ÖFB team defender Martin Hinteregger played through the Frankfurt team.

The goals were scored three days before the cup match against Waldhof Mannheim Filip Kostic (11th, 27th), Dominik Kohr (40th), Goncalo Paciencia (53rd) and Mijat Gacinovic (63rd). Ex-Altach professional Boris Prokopic played through at Vaduz, while his Austrian compatriot Manuel Sutter was only allowed to play a half as a striker. Christopher Drazan wasn’t on the posse.

“The number’s through. However, we will continue to play the return leg in a serious manner,” said Frankfurt’s sports director Fredi Bobi to the TV station Nitro. “I’m glad the boys took this on board.” Almost rhetorically he asked after the clear victory: “What more do you want?” Goal scorer Kohr was also satisfied: “We purposefully removed the things. I’m glad I could help the team.”

With Kevin Trapp still without new commitments, Hütter opted for a formation of six midfielders and Paciencia as the only leader. After the 4:0 by the Portuguese at the latest, the second half became an exhibition race for Eintracht. After the fifth goal, Croatian runner-up Ante Rebic scored the crossbar (91st).

In the play-off (22 and 29 August) Frankfurt would meet Racing Strasbourg or the Bulgarian representative locomotive Plovdiv. The French won the first leg 1-0 away.
