Champions League: "Was rehearsed - demanded the ball": Origi explains wrong corner kick

Goal scorer Divock Origi has confirmed that the version of the corner ball that led to Liverpool FC’s 4-0 lead in the return leg of the Champions League semi-final against Barcelona FC was rehearsed. This goal promoted his team to the final.

“Yes, it was rehearsed. Klopp says in training that we have to be able to react quickly if there are rooms at such a corner. I saw that Barcelona was inattentive and demanded the ball,” Origi explained.

Trent Alexander-Arnold stepped a corner flat into the penalty area, where Barcelona’s defensive was still sorted. Origi switched the fastest and drosch the ball under the bar. “It was pure instinct, I saw and took the opportunity. Everyone will remember this moment,” Origi said.

After a 3-0 defeat in the first leg, Liverpool won the return leg against Barcelona at home Anfield Road 4-0. Origi scored two goals, just like Georginio Wijnaldum. In the final, Liverpool will face the winner of the duel Ajax Amsterdam against Tottenham Hotspur (9pm live on DAZN).
