Central defender Virgil van Dijk of FC Liverpool was voted player of the match in the Champions League final. This was announced by UEFA after the final whistle.
Thanks also to the strong performance of the Dutchman, the Reds were able to win 2-0 against Tottenham Hotspur without conceding a goal.
Van Dijk thus follows in the footsteps of Gareth Bale, who won the award last year.
