FC Liverpool coach Jürgen Klopp was overwhelmed at the fans’ reception the day after the Champions League final.
“I can’t really describe it because I cried a little,” the former Dortmund coach is quoted from the Reds website. Klopp pushed it along: “What people are doing here is overwhelming. When you look people in the eye and see what this title means to them, it’s very touching.”
The team had been greeted in the harbour town by tens of thousands of fans on Sunday after defeating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 in the premier class final. “Thank God the weather has changed for the better. That’s why we had a wonderful time. That was something very special,” said Klopp.
For the first time since taking office in October 2015 Klopp secured a title with the English traditional club. The Stuttgart native had only missed the championship by a hair before. At the end of the Premier League season, the LFC were beaten by Manchester City by just one point.
