Loris Karius, who had become a tragic figure in last season’s Champions League final, congratulated Liverpool FC on Twitter on winning the premier class.
“Congratulations, LFC. Very happy for everyone in the club and for the fans. You deserve it,” wrote the 25-year-old, on loan from Liverpool to Besikas until summer 2020, following the Reds’ 2-0 win over Tottenham.
Karius had stayed away from the final despite the invitation of the club, for fear of moving too much into the focus. In last year’s 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid, the goalkeeper had made a double mistake.
Liverpool’s goals on Saturday were scored by Mohamed Salah with a 2nd-minute penalty and the substitute Divock Origi, who scored a 2-0 goal to clear the score.
