The family of Belgian international Jan Vertonghen of Tottenham Hotspur has been the victim of a robbery in London.
According to the police, the incident occurred on Tuesday when Vertonghen was absent due to the Champions League round of 16 at RB Leipzig (0:3).
Four men armed with knives gained access to Vertonghen’s home, where his wife and two children were present. Several valuables were stolen, and according to police reports no one was physically injured. The investigation is ongoing.
Last July, an attempted robbery against Rio world champion Mesut Özil and ex-scalper Sead Kolasinac had already caused a stir in London. Kolasinac had managed to make the armed assailants flee. One of the perpetrators was sentenced to ten years in prison.
