The coronavirus holds the entire globe in a stranglehold. Even professional soccer is affected by the far-reaching protective measures. With the game between Werder Bremen and Bayer Leverkusen, the first Bundesliga match in the wake of the coronavirus crisis is about to be cancelled.
According to information from the “NDR” radio station, the city of Bremen expects at least 1000 people around the Weser Stadium despite the planned ghost game. Senator of the Interior Ulrich Mäurer wants to suggest to the Senate that the game be cancelled on Monday. Apparently, the ghost game day will take place after all: As the DFL announced on Friday, the presidium of the general meeting proposes to suspend the play of the Bundesliga and 2nd Bundesliga from Tuesday up to and including April 2.
