FC Liverpool is apparently seeking an early extension of their contract with coach Jürgen Klopp. Although his current contract runs until 2022, according to the Guardian, a further extension would have the highest priority. There’d been talking for months.
Klopp has been coaching Liverpool since autumn 2015, when he succeeded Brendan Rodgers and initially signed a three-year contract. Already in the following summer he extended early. Klopp currently earns around eight million euros a year.
After three lost finals (League Cup, Europa League and Champions League) he won his first title with Liverpool on Saturday. In the Champions League final, he beat Tottenham Hotspur 2-0.
Klopp is also often associated with the coaching position at the DFB and FC Bayern Munich. Franz Beckenbauer recently said to the picture that he wished for “nothing more than that one day he would come to FC Bayern”.
