Despite the surprising slip-up against Augsburg (0-2) and the Supercup defeat against FC Bayern (2-3), Head of Sports Michael Zorc sees BVB in a better position this year than in the 2019/20 season.

“The balance in our squad is better than last year,” Zorc said in conversation with the “Sport Bild”. The carelessness of the young players, the experience of the older players, the surprise moments of the “daredevils” and the speed of the “sprinters” would fit together very well, judged the Dortmund sports boss.

However, the fact that these qualities were not scored on the second day of the match against FC Augsburg did not fit into the plan of the Schwarz-Gelben, because: “Our goal must be to score these qualities permanently,” Zorc demanded.

‘s evaluation, on the other hand, turned out to be more mixed in the first weeks. The Belgian had quite bad moments and did not always seem like the hoped-for reinforcement. “We knew right from the start that Thomas did not have the same pace as Achraf Hakimi,” Zorc urged patience in assessing the new arrival.
