When does the transfer window close?

Published on

The new Bundesliga season is about to start. Not for long and we can look forward to real treats like Bayern vs. Leipzig or the Revierderby again. But until then the teams still have a little time to complete their squad. SOCCERSCORE explains how long the transfer window is still open and which club has spent the most so far.

Lucas Hernandez to the Bavarians, Luka Jovic to Madrid and Julian Brandt to BVB. Some mega deals have already been made this summer. Until the transfer window closes, some Bundesliga clubs could still become active.

FIFA requires the establishment of a twelve-week changeover period between two seasons. Almost all national associations within UEFA therefore agree on the period from 1 July to 31 August.

In Germany, Italy, Spain and France, however, the transfer phase differs slightly this summer. Here the market will not close its doors until 2 September.

All of August and two days in September the Bundesliga clubs still have time to complete their squad for the 2019/20 season.

Unlike in the Bundesliga, the transfer window in the Premier League closes on August 8. However, this does not mean that players are not allowed to leave the island. Transfer coups like the one from Leroy Sane to the Bavarians could therefore still be completed after 8 August.

A total of over 1.14 billion euros already changed hands this summer within the Bundesliga. Of these, approximately 650 million euros represent transfer expenses alone. So far, the Dortmunders have spent the most on players. A total of 127 million. TSG Hoffenheim, which has generated 111 million euros in sales revenues to date, is currently posting the highest revenues.
