Werder? Toprak before leaving Dortmund

Published on

Ömer Toprak is probably about to leave Borussia Dortmund. The central defender was released from the BVB test game against Prussia Münster on Saturday (4:0) for contract talks.

“Ömer wasn’t there, he still has some issues to settle. I think there’s going to be some news soon,” said Sebastian Kehl, Dortmund’s head of the licensed players department.

According to information in the picture, the Italian first league team US Sassuolo, Galatasaray and Werder Bremen are interested in Toprak. Werder was considered a favourite for a 30-year-old Turk’s commitment: Bremen are looking for reinforcements for the defensive after Milos Veljkovic (toe injury), Sebastian Langkamp (muscle fibre tear) and left-back Ludwig Augustinsson (knee problems) were injured before the start of the season.

Toprak was one of the winners of the Dortmunder preparation and convinced among other things as replacement for the stricken Mats Hummels in the DFL Supercup against the FC Bayern Munich. It is to cost about five million euros.
