Bundesliga: Union hooks up striker from Mainz

Anthony Ujah strengthens Union Berlin for the new Bundesliga season. This was announced by the club on Thursday. The 28-year-old comes from the league competitor FSV Mainz 05 and receives a three-year contract from the Köpenickers.

The clubs agreed not to disclose the transfer of the Nigerian, who still had a contract with the Rheinhessen until 2021.

“I’m looking forward to an exciting challenge and want to put my experience and performance at the service of the team to deliver a successful season,” said Ujah.

Union Managing Director Oliver Ruhnert was also happy about the deal: “With Anthony Ujah, we have signed a striker who has proven his class at several clubs in the Bundesliga and scored goals.

In January 2018 Ujah had already moved to Mainz for the second time and also played in Germany for 1. FC Cologne and Werder Bremen. Last season he scored four goals in 23 compulsory games for the Mainz team. He has scored a total of 51 goals in 171 Bundesliga matches to date.
