Tönnies probably renounces stadium visits

Published on

Supervisory board chairman Clemens Tönnies of FC Schalke 04 will apparently refrain from visiting stadiums during his three-month retreat. That’s what the Bild newspaper reports on Thursday.

This period also includes the home games against record champions Bayern Munich (24 August) and the district derby against Borussia Dortmund (26 October).

On Tuesday evening, the S04 Honorary Council acquitted the Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Clemens Tönnies, of the accusation of racism. The club boss himself suggested he let his office go for three months. This request of Tönnies was approved by the Schalker honorary council.

On 15 August, the Ethics Commission of the German Football Association (DFB) will deal with the case. However, the committee cannot impose sanctions, can only initiate investigations and, in the case of sufficient suspicion, bring charges before the Ethics Chamber of the Sports Court.
