The relegation at a glance

The regular season in the German professional leagues is over, the relegation matches are just around the corner. You can get all information about the promotion and relegation games of the Bundesliga, 2nd league and 3rd league here at SOCCERSCORE.

The promotion to and remaining in the Bundesliga are determined by the 16th Bundesliga table, VfB Stuttgart, and the third Bundesliga table, Union Berlin. The capital city first plays away, before the deciding match in Berlin takes place four days later.

FC Ingolstadt and Wehen Wiesbaden will play against each other in the duel between the 16th of the 2nd league and the third division. Here the underclass club has the home game first. In the second leg, the FCI will play at home.

This year the champions of the regional leagues Northeast, West and Southwest will be promoted directly to the third league. Between the champions of the regional leagues North (VfL Wolfsburg II) and Bavaria (FC Bayern Munich II) there are two relegation matches in which the last participant for the coming third league season will be determined. In the first leg Wolfsburg, in the second leg FC Bayern has Heimricht.

In all relegation matches, the away goals rule, familiar from the European Cup, applies, according to which goals scored away with a tie in the overall result count more than goals scored at home.

If no decision has been made in the second leg after the end of the regular playing time, extra time of 15 minutes will be given twice. If there is still no winner, a penalty shootout takes place.

Both Bundesliga delegation games cannot be seen on German free TV. Instead, Eurosport shows the matches exclusively on Eurosport 2 HD as well as in Eurosport Player live and in full length. The second league delegation also has Eurosport on offer, but ZDF is also showing both games here.

In the third league MagentaSport shows both matches between Wolfsburg and the Bavarians, but here you have the possibility to watch the matches free of charge in the livestream. Br.de broadcasts.

Here on SOCCERSCORE, relegation live tickers are also offered for the starting positions in the Bundesliga and the 2nd league.
