The 1st matchday at a glance

Title defender Bayern Munich opens the 57th season in the Bundesliga on 16 August with a home match against Hertha BSC (20:30).

This was announced by the German Football League (DFL) on Friday during its presentation of the match schedules for the 1st and 2nd Bundesliga. The record champion from Munich last lost points at a season opener in 2008 (2:2 against Hamburger SV).

The first timed schedules for the Bundesliga are planned for the week 8 to 12 July. Over the course of the season, further concrete appointments will follow, depending on the performance of the clubs in the international competitions and in the DFB Cup, among other things.
