Surprising transfer coup for Union Berlin: The promoted player to the highest German football league has secured the services of central defender Neven Subotic (30).
As the Ironmen announced on Thursday, the former Dortmunder will receive a two-year contract, which is also valid for the 2nd league.
“For Union and for me personally, the upcoming season in the Bundesliga is a great challenge, so I’m really looking forward to the adventure,” said Subotic: “I’ve known the Bundesliga for many years and I’m sure that the 1st FC Union Berlin will do this league good and once again prove that you can also reach Bundesliga level with a lot of heart”.
Subotic last played for the French traditional club AS St. Etienne for one and a half years. The Serbian experienced his most successful time with Borussia Dortmund. Under coach Jürgen Klopp Subotic won two German championships, in 2012 he won the double with the Westphalians. One year later he lost the Champions League final against Bayern Munich (1:2).
