Schalke: Wagner hopes for Nübel’s whereabouts

Coach David Wagner has explained how he wants to change FC Schalke 04. He also hopes that goalkeeper Alexander Nübel will remain. In addition: Newcomer Ozan Kabak is said to have a mega exit clause.

Here you can find all news and rumours about S04.

Coach David Wagner wants to “change a lot” on Schalke, as explained in the interview with Sport1. “We have noticed that we have to make structural changes, some of which we have already implemented. All in the knowledge that these changes will take time.” All this would only work with “an extreme amount of work”, Wagner says.

The new head coach continues: “It is about continuity and about understanding oneself as a community, as a group. By that I mean not only the team and the team around the players, but everyone who works for this club.”

Before signing the contract, he had talked to his buddy Jürgen Klopp. “Kloppo said to me that Schalke was a perfect match for me. After all, it is a highly emotional club, with passion and force. Now let’s see if he’s right,” says Wagner.

In an interview, Wagner also commented on the future of goalkeeper Alexander Nübel: “We will do everything in our power to extend the contract with him. First of all, we’re happy to have him with us. I have very high hopes that he will improve further with the help of our goalkeeper coach (Simon Henzler, ed.). I hope he stays with us a long time. That’s a position where we’re really well positioned.”

For Wagner, Nübel counts among the “great German goalkeeper talents, if not the greatest at this age”.

As the picture reports, the royal blues have presented their goalkeeper with a concrete offer to extend the contract, which runs until 2020. Accordingly, the new working paper is to be valid until 2023, with an exit clause of an undisclosed amount taking effect from 2021. In addition, Nübel should be pleased about a strong salary increase.

Nübel apparently wants to consult with his environment this week and then decide on his future. The 22-year-old has information from SOCCERSCORE and Goal according to requests from FC Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, AS Rome and several clubs from the Premier League on the table.

Newcomer Ozan Kabak is said to have included an exit clause in his contract. As the kicker reports, the 19-year-old could leave the club prematurely for around 50 million euros. This would make the clause about as high as that of Matija Nastasic and Rabbi Matondo.

This summer, the Schalkers withdrew the exit clause in Kabak’s contract and transferred 15 million euros to VfB Stuttgart. Kabak still has a contract with the royal blue until 2024.

In search of reinforcements for the new season, Wagner apparently had his contacts in England played again.

The portal footballinsider wants to know that S04 is interested in a commitment from Florian Jozefzoon. The 28-year-old wingman is still under contract with Derby County until 2021 and is expected to leave the club this summer.

Last summer, Jozefzoon switched from FC Brentford to Derby County for around 3.5 million euros. Under the new coach of Chelsea FC, Frank Lampard, the former Dutch U international played in 34 competitive games – but rarely played more than 90 minutes.
