Schalke lends out Everton defenders

Schalke 04 is lending English U21 national defender Jonjoe Kenny of Premier League club FC Everton for the coming Bundesliga season.

The 22-year-old will take part with the English in the U21 European Championships in Italy and San Marino (16 to 30 June) and will start training later.

“We have thus filled the vacant position of the legal defender in the professional squad according to our ideas,” said Schalke’s Sports Director Jochen Schneider. Kenny has played 31 Premier League games so far.

Kenny also looks forward to his new job: “It is a great opportunity for me to come to a new country and present my skills on a big stage at Schalke. The S04 is a club with an impressive history and fantastic fans. I’m glad to be here, and I can’t wait for it to start.”
