FC Schalke 04 is obviously interested in Dodi Lukebakio from Fortuna Düsseldorf. However, the squires would have to enter into talks with FC Watford regarding a transfer.
As the picture reports, the 21-year-old striker is on the list of Schalke’s sports director Jochen Schneider. It should embody the qualities that the ex-Leipziger and new coach David Wagner appreciate in a striker: Speed, development ability and danger of scoring.
The financial component could make the transfer more difficult. FC Watford, who awarded Lukebakio to Düsseldorf in the current season, apparently demands around 20 million euros. This requirement already made it almost impossible for Fortuna to remain.
For Schalke, such a replacement would also be difficult to handle – especially as the team clearly missed the European competition. Therefore, players such as Nabil Bentaleb, Hamza Mendyl or Yevhen Konoplyanka would have to be handed in first, reports the picture.
The miners could therefore also aim for a loan with a subsequent purchase option. Then the very large issue could be put on the long bench in order to be able to tackle further conversion work on the squad for the time being.
Lukebakio currently has 14 goals in 33 games for the Fortuna. Every 190 minutes he contributed a hit to the class retention of Friedhelm Funkel’s team.
