FC Schalke 04 has drawn the buyback option from striker Bernard Tekpetey. As the Gelsenkircheners announced on Saturday, the Ghanaian returns from the Bundesliga promoted SC Paderborn, where he had changed a year ago.
But whether Tekpetey will actually wear the royal blue jersey in the coming season is still uncertain. The last speculation was about a change to Fortuna Düsseldorf.
“The responsible persons will now discuss his sporting future with the 21-year-old in all peace and quiet,” a press release of the Schalker stated.
Tekpetey played 32 games in the 2nd league, scoring ten goals and preparing six goals.
“We regret the loss of Berni, which has become an important part of our squad in the past season,” said Markus Krösche, Managing Director of Paderborn’s Sports Division.
