Rummenigge confirms possible Alaba departure

David Alaba’s possible departure from FC Bayern Munich has been stirring things up for months. While the German record champion is fighting for an extension with his top star (contract until 2021), the competition is already in position.

Until now, it was primarily rumours, but on Thursday Karl-Heinz Rummenigge officially confirmed that David Alaba could leave FC Bayern in the summer.

“The fact is that with Thiago and David Alaba we want to play the remaining Champions League games to the end,” the CEO explained in the presentation of Leroy Sané. “So far, it has to be said, but we have not yet found a solution,” Rummenigge confirmed that the Austrian has not yet signed a new contract. The record champion had “put his financial cards on the table” with the latest offer.

Now it’s up to Alaba to decide what he wants. A stay at the Isar “is our number one option,” Rummenigge says.
