Ralf Rangnick leaves RB Leipzig. The 60-year-old, who last served as coach and sports director of the cup finalist, will be the new football director of the Red Bull locations in New York (USA) and Bragantino (Brazil). At RB he will only work in an advisory capacity.
“This is an extremely exciting and challenging task for me,” said Rangnick, who will be employed by the Red Bull Group in the future, at an unscheduled press conference on Tuesday.
RB managing director Oliver Mintzlaff added: “I see it more with a crying eye, because I would have liked to have seen Ralf permanently in Leipzig. But through the close cooperation with the other locations there is also an added value for RB Leipzig.”
Markus Krösche from SC Paderborn is the new Sports Director of the Bundesliga. The 38-year-old signed a contract with RB until 2022 and is expected to cost the club around 700,000 euros. In addition a cooperation between both associations was agreed upon.
In Leipzig, Krösche will succeed Jochen Schneider, who has migrated to FC Schalke 04, and will work closely with new coach Julian Nagelsmann in the future.
