RB Leipzig is apparently interested in buying Benjamin Henrich from AS Monaco. The Red Bulls could beat the competition from FC Bayern Munich, SV Werder Bremen and FC Schalke 04.
As the kicker reports, Leipzig is particularly interested in Germany’s variable U-national player. Henrichs would probably be willing to spend around 25 million euros after he was only able to make a limited contribution after his move to Monaco.
The 22-year-old can play left-, right- and defensive midfield. That brought him recently also with various other associations into the discussion. Leipzig, however, has Bremen and Schalke the financial clout to be able to realize a purchase. S04 and SVW, on the other hand, are more likely to be looking for a loan.
The kicker sees the statements of RB Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff, who stated on Friday that he had contacted Red Bulls Global Sports Director Gerard Houllier more recently, as a possible indication of Leipzig’s interest in Henrichs: “Because we needed him for a transfer and because he has good relations and a good network with the club there.
Henrichs was born out of Bayer Leverkusen’s youth work. In the summer of 2018, he left the works for Monaco for 20 million euros. There he played 29 games, but at the end of the season he was only a rotation player.
