Quick decision? Politics advises on fan return

Is there already a federal regulation for the return of fans to the stadiums at the start of the season of the Bundesliga? According to “dpa”information, the heads of the state chancelleries of the federal states will discuss

this on Tuesday (4:00 p.m.). Since the policy originally only wanted to present a solution at the end of October, it could now be faster than expected. A compromise would not come as

a surprise, as football has already created the first facts. And Schleswig-Holstein also held out on Monday evening: From 19 September, up to 25 percent of all spectators can be seated in stadiums and halls – assuming appropriate hygiene concepts.

While record champion Bayern Munich has to open the season on Friday against FC Schalke 04 in empty places, four Bundesliga clubs received the green light from the responsible health authorities for home games in front of several thousand spectators. 8500 visitors were admitted to the Werder Bremen vs. Hertha BSC and RB Leipzig vs. FSV Mainz 05 matches. Eintracht Frankfurt can be supported against promoter Arminia Bielefeld by 6500 fans, the 1st FC Union Berlin received the release for 5000 people for the match against FC Augsburg in the stadium at the Alte Försterei.

DFL boss Christian Seifert had recently called on policymakers to be more aggressive about the stadium issue. The return of fans could be “a very important and very positive sign. A sign that thousands of people want to and can adhere to hygiene rules,” emphasized the managing director of the German Football League.

Of course, one should not become reckless, “but the fear of what could happen must not paralyze us.” With his appeal, the 51-year-old could have met with open ears.
