New developments in James matters

James Rodriguez is apparently about to leave FC Bayern this summer. After his return to team training, Arjen Robben has shown himself optimistic that he will be able to run for the FCB again this season. Uli Hoeneß gave Niko Kovac a very good intermediate report.

Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Bayern Munich.

James Rodriguez will apparently leave FC Bayern Munich after his loan expires this summer. That’s what the Spanish Marca reports on Friday. The reason for this is the reservist role that the Colombian under Bavarian coach Niko Kovac has had to assume for quite some time.

Since the 5:0 victory of the record champion in the top game against Borussia Dortmund James is out of the starting eleven and gets only little playing time. Because it ran against the BVB and also in the games afterwards without James, Kovac asked – asked about his tactical changes and the personal details of James and Leon Goretzka – why he should change something.

Until 15 June, FC Bayern has a valid option to commit the 27-year-old for 42 million euros. But also the kicker reported on Thursday of a “clear tendency towards farewell”, because a reservist role “cannot be reconciled with James’ self-image”.

But a return from James to Real Madrid is “complicated,” writes Marca. The reason is Zinedine Zidane, who is coach of the royals again since March and who is said to have a difficult relationship with the Colombians. Rumor has it, James could get on Serie A in the summer.

After his return to FC Bayern’s team training on Thursday, Arjen Robben was optimistic that, despite his protracted muscular problems, he will once again run for the German record champion.

“It’s a first step,” Robben said at FC Bayern TV, after training with the team for 45 minutes for the first time in weeks. But training is not the end of the story. “I’ll only be happy if I can stay with the team for another week or two and also make the first minutes in the game again. That would be something wonderful,” explained the 35-year-old Dutchman.

Robben, who will leave the record champion at the end of the season after ten successful years, made it clear that he wanted to say goodbye “healthy and fit” and “of course with two more titles”. “We still have some work to do and maybe I can do something about it.”

However, the last compulsory game of the experienced player is quite some time ago. At the end of November, Robben was the last player to run for FC Bayern and was one of the best on the pitch with two goals in a 5-1 home win over Benfica Lisbon in the Champions League.

Uli Hoeneß praised Niko Kovac’s work to the skies and raved about one of the best rounds in the club’s history.

“If a coach enters the cup finals in his first year and leads the Bundesliga four days from the end, then he has done a good job,” said Hoeneß following the German record champions’ 3-2 win over Werder Bremen in the DFB Cup on Wednesday.

Under Kovac, the Munich team will play “one of the best second rounds in the history of FC Bayern.” Hoeneß therefore warned that “we don’t start complaining”. Click here for detailed news.

In front of the Franconian-Bavarian Derby against FC Nuremberg, Niko Kovac answers the questions of the reporters in the press room of FC Bayern on Friday noon at 1.30 pm. SOCCERSCORE accompanies the action here in the LIVE-TICKER.
