Müller Party! Strong Bavarians dismantle Fenerbahce

FC Bayern has impressively confirmed its positive test game form and has fuelled self-confidence for the Supercup on Saturday against Borussia Dortmund. Niko Kovac’s team beat Fenerbahce Istanbul 6:1 (5:0) in the semi-final of the Audi Cup. Thomas Müller became the man of the game as Joker with a triple pack.

In the final of the domestic tournament in the Allianz Arena, the Munich team will meet Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday (from 20.30 in the SOCCERSCORE live ticker). Last season’s Champions-League finalist had held his own against Real Madrid in the first semi-final 1-0 (1-0).

Unlike the Spurs and the Royals, the two teams were pushing the pace right from the start. Fenerbahce with former Bundesliga professional Max Kruse in the offensive midfield kept up in the initial phase, but the dominance of the Bavarians increased from minute to minute.

Kovac’s team, which, with the exception of Pavard, which was spared at first, offered its current best eleven from the start, convinced with physical freshness as well as fast and precise pass tablets in the last third.

The fact that the record champion led to a 5-0 break, however, was also due to the drowsiness of the Turkish defensive, which stopped defending after the “three-strike” by Sanches (22.), Goretzka (28.) and Müller (31.) and whether the aggressive Munich pressing made numerous mistakes such as the foul to the penalty (44.) converted by Müller.

The only downer for the landlords: Gnabry had to be replaced after 20 minutes. His representative Müller, however, was still keen on scoring goals after the break and increased the score to 6-0 in a much calmer second round, which was marked by many personnel changes. The last goal of the evening was scored by the visitors: Kruse, of all players, duped the Munich defence after a Goretzka missed pass and Ulreich, who was substituted for Neuer for the break.

Goals: 1:0 Sanches (22.), 2:0 Goretzka (28.) 3:0 Müller (31.), 4:0 Coman (40.), 5:0 Müller (44.), 6:0 Müller (58.), 6:1 Kruse (64.)

Came into play after 20 minutes for Gnabry and played equal big. Müller took advantage of a serious mistake by Dirar to score 3:0 in the meantime, and just before half-time he scored a penalty. Particularly worth seeing: His third goal to 6:0, in which he processed a long ball of Süle technically sophisticated and placed over the storming Fener-Keeper in the goal. Also strong: the midfield Thiago-Sanches-Goretzka, which was very passable and with healthy aggressiveness.

Caught a used tag on the right defensive side of the Turks. Coman couldn’t get a grip on himself at all and was to blame for the penalty before the break because he was too late against Lewandowski. Stayed in the cabin halfway through.

The Munich-born player did not get into debt in an overall fair encounter. Decided just before the break after a foul on Lewandowski in the sixteenth right to penalty shot for the FCB. Hardly challenged in the second half.
