Bundesliga: Moukoko with the announcement: "Don't be ashamed"

Youssoufa Moukoko from the youth of Borussia Dortmund has turned to his critics after the lost final of the U17 Bundesliga against 1. FC Cologne (2:3). With clear words he defended himself against criticism and prejudices.

“It was just incredible and a lot has been written about me and I say it again: It’s not my fault that things are going well and that I got the gift from Allah, I won’t be ashamed of being good at football,” wrote the 14-year-old at Instagram.

Especially during the Bundesliga finals Moukoko was confronted again with accusations that he was significantly older than the 14 years indicated due to the increased attention. Such accusations had always been rejected by Borussia Dortmund and Moukoko’s family.

The player himself focused on his teammates: “Of course I’m proud and overjoyed at what we’ve done this season and I’ll never forget that you made it possible for me to break the record! 50 goals – I would never have made it without you.”

Moukoko Donis Avdijaj, who scored 44 goals for FC Schalke 04 in 2012/13, outdid Donis Avdijaj with 50 goals in one season. With the promotion to the U19, the BVB striker will be challenged more in the future: “Next year I will come back even stronger and we will rock the U19.”
