Matthäus: “Better a few million more for Havertz”

Bundesliga: Matthäus: "Better a few million more for Havertz"

Former world footballer Lothar Matthäus advises FC Bayern Munich to hire offensive player Kai Havertz from Bayer Leverkusen. “I would advise FC Bayern to get Kai Havertz this summer. It’s better to put a few million on it now before he goes abroad”, he is quoted in the Sport Bild.

Accordingly, Havertz embodies everything that is needed for a successful career. “He’s dangerous to the goal and strong in nerves. He has charisma and self-confidence. His body language shows that he is a great personality,” Matthäus emphasized.

Havertz, which can be used both in the central offensive midfield and on the outer lanes, is still under contract in Leverkusen until 2022. In the past season he was Bayer’s best goal scorer with 17 goals in the Bundesliga.

Sport Managing Director Rudi Völler had last ruled out a change of 19-year-old this summer: “There’s no discussion about him anyway. He’s a wonderful soccer player, but he’s only 19 years old. A year – at least – at Bayer Leverkusen would do him good. Then we’ll see.”

Bayer Leverkusen had secured fourth place in the table on the last Bundesliga matchday and the associated qualification for the Champions League. According to a SID report, the change from national player Julian Brandt to Borussia Dortmund is considered safe.
