Lewandowski wants backup striker

Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski would be delighted with a second striker in the squad. Timo Werner will probably not be at least in summer 2019. Alphonso Davies is not afraid of Leroy Sane, by the way. Here you can find all news and rumours about FC Bayern.

Robert Lewandowski from FC Bayern Munich wants a replacement for himself. “If you have the option of a second striker, that’s better – for the team and also for me,” the Pole is quoted in the kicker. “Getting some rest” would be just one of the goals Lewandowski’s pursuing.

He also wanted to occasionally follow the game from the bench, observe it and then “positively contribute” new insights in the next game. Lewandowski hardly had this opportunity in the past season. The departure of Sandro Wagner also meant the departure of the only real Lewandowski alternative for FC Bayern.

Jann-Fiete Arp from Hamburger SV will be a striker in summer 2019. However, it is not yet clear whether this will remain in the squad or whether it will be awarded. “The club knows that a new player has to help directly. You can’t give him two years,” explained Lewandowski, independent of Arp’s personnel.

According to the picture, FC Bayern Munich has distanced itself from a transfer of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2019. According to the report, the record champion in the current transfer window does not want to pay a transfer fee and will therefore only become active at the end of the striker’s contract.

In the summer of 2020, the aim is to achieve a transfer free of charge. This was the scenario that RB Leipzig wanted to avoid so far. Werner would, should he not be sold, go to his last year with the Red Bulls. They had already threatened him with a whole year in the stands if he wanted a replacement free of charge.

CEO Oliver Mintzlaff recently stressed: “When he says he doesn’t want to extend, we want to talk to his consultant about what an exit scenario could look like. We can’t afford to let him go free.” Besides FC Bayern, FC Liverpool was also considered interested.

Alphonso Davies of FC Bayern Munich is not worried about the continuing rumours of a possible engagement of Leroy Sane of Manchester City. “If Leroy comes to us, I can learn a lot from him. He is a top winger for his club and his country,” he told the picture.

The 18-year-old would be confronted with another strong opponent in the internal competition if the 23-year-old Sane were to sign up. Yet Davies reacts calmly: “The bosses see something in Leroy, they see something in me. That’s why they bought me. That’s why they might buy it. I want to develop here.”

Davies assumes that “everyone gets their chance to flourish and shine in this club.” The Canadian is very positive that FC Bayern’s new wing tongs are either way enormously young: “The young generation is good with us! KC – Kingsley Coman – and Serge Gnabry, we’re young, hungry to play.”
