Thomas Tuchel as pioneer: Bayer Leverkusen’s new offensive player Moussa Diaby relied on the recommendation of his former coach when deciding to move to the Bundesliga.

“He advised me to go to Leverkusen. It was a good decision and I would learn a lot there,” Diaby told SID on Friday at his official presentation in Leverkusen.

The 20-year-old had played under Tuchel at Paris St. Germain and “learned a lot from him and my great fellow players like Neymar or Mbappe,” said the French junior international. Tuchel is “always close to the players and gives them a lot. He’s got a big heart.”

Diaby signed a five-year contract with Bayer until June 2024, Leverkusen had the young star’s services cost 15 million euros according to information from several media. He is convinced of the Leverkusen project and is looking forward to the challenge, said Diaby: “I have a very good first impression, I want to do my part so that we are successful”.
